NCB SPIRIT

NCB Spirit

Of Partnership, Professionalism, People-orientation

And so it was that people were the most valuable asset to NCB . . . for without people, computers were useless. Through its 18 years, from 1981 to 1999, NCB brought together some over 5,000 people who were eager to try new things, highly motivated and passionate about what they were doing. These were the people who:

  • ‘never said die’;
  • ‘dared to be different’; and were continually
  • ‘scaling new heights’

to transform Singapore into an intelligent island. Most importantly, these were a group of people who shared a common philosophy – of partnership, professionalism, people-orientation – which put people, be they customers or NCB staff, and relationships as the most critical factors for success.

Many of us would probably still think of some of our bosses, our contemporaries, our subordinates, our users and our industry associates with fondness and respect. And, at times, we wished we could consult them or simply catch up with them, but don’t have their contacts and can’t find the time to hunt them down.

It is for this reason of sustaining the camaraderie and spirit of sharing that the NCB Society was set up.
